A formal inquiry into the recent school building collapse in Khagaria, Bihar, has concluded that the construction funds were mishandled. The investigation team found discrepancies between the allocated budget and the actual expenditures, suggesting possible embezzlement or fraud.
The report recommends that senior officials responsible for overseeing the project be subjected to disciplinary action, including suspension or dismissal, pending further legal review. It also calls for a thorough audit of all ongoing school infrastructure projects in the state to prevent similar lapses.
State education authorities have pledged to cooperate fully with the probe and to implement stricter financial controls. Parents and teachers, who have been demanding accountability since the tragedy, welcomed the findings but urged swift implementation of the recommended measures.
