Bommagondeshwar solved the water problem
Bidar: When there was a severe drought in this area in the past, Mahatma Bommagondeshwar solved the drinking water problem of people and livestock, said Shivakumar Kuppe, Humanabad Taluk Extension Officer of the Minority Welfare Department.
He was speaking while inaugurating a lecture program on Bommagondeshwar organized by the District Gond Students' Association at Kanaka Bhavan in Gandhiganj, the city on Sunday.
When the Bahmani kings and soldiers went hunting, they were thirsty. They searched but could not find water. Then, when Bommagondeshwar moved a rock with his stick, water started flowing. He said that he quenched the thirst of the kings and soldiers with it.
In return for Bommagondeshwar drinking water, the Bahmani king abolished the sheep sales tax. He recalled that this helped the shepherds.
Bommagondeshwar, who was born in the womb of Chidriya Shivagonda and Gangavva, continued the family business of herding sheep. Later, he became a great man. He said that he had removed many of the hardships of the people through his miracles.
Presiding thinker Kallappa Rayagonda said that more and more programs should be held to create awareness among the people about the life and achievements of Bommagondeshwar.
