Authorities have cautioned people about a fraudulent ‘Like & Earn’ scheme that promises earnings for liking YouTube videos, initially paying small amounts before demanding large investments.

The police have issued a warning about a growing ‘Like & Earn’ part‑time job scam that lures individuals through WhatsApp messages promising cash for liking YouTube videos. The scheme initially offers modest returns of between Rs 800 and Rs 1,000 to create a sense of legitimacy.

After the initial payout, victims are asked to invest increasingly larger sums, with the fraudsters eventually demanding investments amounting to several lakhs of rupees. The promised returns never materialise, and the money is siphoned off by a coordinated cyber network.

Law enforcement agencies have urged the public to refrain from responding to such messages and to verify any job offers that require upfront payments. Anyone who has been approached or has already suffered losses is advised to file a complaint with the local police cyber cell.

The warning comes as part of a broader effort to curb online financial frauds that exploit the popularity of social media platforms and the desire for quick earnings among job‑seekers.
