Police seize diamonds worth over ₹50 lakh from car in Ratangarh, Rajasthan

Rajasthan police at Malasar Toll Plaza confiscated diamonds valued at more than ₹50 lakh and ₹62,000 in cash from a vehicle, detaining the two occupants for lack of documentation.
Police conducting a routine check near the Malasar Toll Plaza in Ratangarh, Rajasthan, stopped a car and discovered a cache of unregistered valuables. Officers seized diamonds estimated to be worth over ₹50 lakh along with ₹62,000 in cash hidden in the vehicle.
The two men driving the car, identified as Akshay Panchola and Manish Patel, were unable to produce any legal paperwork or provenance for the gemstones. As a result, both were placed in police custody for further investigation.
Rajasthan police have opened a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, citing suspicion of smuggling and illegal possession of high‑value jewels. The seized diamonds will be held as evidence pending forensic verification and court orders.
