Madhya Pradesh police conducted a second raid within two days on a grocery store in Tahnaga village, Chhatarpur, confiscating 22 quarts of country liquor after an earlier seizure of 10‑12 quarts.

Police in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district carried out a follow‑up operation on a grocery shop in the village of Tahnaga after an earlier raid uncovered illicit country liquor. The second sweep, conducted within 48 hours of the first, resulted in the seizure of 22 quarts of unlicensed alcohol.

The initial inspection at the shop had already yielded between 10 and 12 quarts of the same contraband, prompting authorities to intensify surveillance on the premises. Investigators suspect the shop was using its legitimate retail front to conceal a small‑scale liquor distribution network.

Local law‑enforcement officials confirmed that the confiscated stock will be destroyed in accordance with state regulations, and the case has been forwarded to the district magistrate for further action. No arrests were reported at the time of the raids.

The incident underscores ongoing challenges faced by the state in curbing illegal alcohol trade, especially in rural areas where such operations often hide behind everyday businesses.
