Police in Tonk, Rajasthan, conducted a surprise raid on an unregistered bidi production facility after intelligence linked the site to a large-scale counterfeit operation. Officers seized thousands of wrappers bearing the names of well‑known bidi brands, along with large quantities of fake bidis and adulterated tobacco that had been mixed with other substances. Packaging material and other equipment used to disguise the illegal output were also recovered.
Two individuals present at the premises were taken into custody for further questioning. The investigation team continues to search for the factory owner, who is believed to be orchestrating the distribution of the counterfeit products across the region.
