Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on all citizens to actively participate in the upcoming Census 2027, emphasizing its importance for policy planning.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation, urging every resident to take part in the Census 2027 scheduled to begin later this year. He highlighted that accurate population data is essential for effective allocation of resources, planning of welfare schemes, and representation in legislative bodies.
The Prime Minister stressed that the census is a constitutional exercise that reflects the country's demographic changes, urbanisation trends, and socio‑economic indicators. He appealed to citizens to provide truthful information and cooperate with enumerators, assuring that data privacy will be strictly maintained.
Officials from the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner have been directed to ensure that the enumeration process is smooth, transparent, and inclusive, covering even the most remote areas. The government plans to use digital tools to streamline data collection and reduce errors.
Modi reiterated that the success of Census 2027 will directly influence the design of future development programs, infrastructure projects, and fiscal allocations. He called upon community leaders, NGOs, and local bodies to assist in creating awareness and facilitating the exercise.
The call comes as the government prepares for a comprehensive demographic survey, marking the first census after the 2020s reforms. Citizens are expected to respond positively, given the emphasis on national development and data‑driven governance.
