New Delhi, Oct 30 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Guwahati, Assam, on Monday to inaugurate a suite of infrastructure and development projects valued at Rs 19,480 crore. The launch covered initiatives ranging from road upgrades and urban renewal to water supply and renewable energy installations, aimed at boosting the state's economic growth and employment prospects.
During the same event, Modi announced the release of Rs 18,000 crore under the PM‑Kisan scheme, a central government programme that provides direct cash assistance to marginal and small farmers across the country. The additional funding is intended to strengthen agricultural resilience ahead of the upcoming sowing season.
Both announcements were made in the presence of senior Union and state officials, who highlighted the government's commitment to balanced regional development and farmer welfare. The projects are slated to commence within the next quarter, with implementation overseen by relevant ministries and the Assam state administration.
