Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal announced that free‑trade agreements are set to give India access to markets worth $85 trillion in GDP, highlighting the country's vast capacity.

New Delhi – Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal told reporters that upcoming free‑trade agreements will open up markets whose combined gross domestic product totals $85 trillion, a figure he said underscores India’s enormous economic potential.

Goyal emphasized that such agreements will not only expand export opportunities but also attract foreign investment, leveraging the country’s large consumer base and manufacturing capabilities.

He added that the government is actively negotiating multiple FTAs across regions, aiming to deepen trade ties and integrate India more fully into global value chains.

The minister’s remarks come as India seeks to boost its trade surplus and accelerate growth amid a competitive international environment.
