The Bihar tourism department is setting up a 2,500‑bed tent city, e‑rickshaw service and a dedicated helpline for pilgrims at the Pitru Paksha Mela in Gaya, starting 25 September.
Gaya, Bihar, will host the world‑renowned Pitru Paksha Mela beginning on 25 September 2026. The state tourism department has accelerated preparations, announcing a temporary tent city equipped with 2,500 beds to accommodate the influx of pilgrims.
To facilitate movement within the sprawling fairground, the department has arranged a fleet of e‑rickshaws, offering an eco‑friendly transport option for visitors. A dedicated helpline has also been set up to provide real‑time assistance and information to attendees.
Officials said the infrastructure aims to ensure safety, comfort and smooth logistics for devotees performing ancestral rites during the auspicious period. The temporary facilities will be operational throughout the festival, which traditionally draws large crowds from across the country.
