The central government has inaugurated the PM‑Rahata scheme at EMS Patna, offering free treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh for patients injured in road accidents.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways today inaugurated the PM‑Rahata scheme at the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) hospital in Patna. The launch, attended by senior officials, marks the first step in providing comprehensive medical care to road‑accident victims across Bihar.
Under the scheme, patients who suffer injuries in road crashes can receive treatment and hospitalization at no cost, with the government covering expenses up to ₹1.5 lakh per case. Eligibility is limited to those admitted through EMS Patna and who meet the accident‑related injury criteria.
EMS Patna has been equipped with additional medical staff and diagnostic tools to handle the expected increase in patient load. The hospital will coordinate with the state health department to ensure timely disbursement of funds and smooth processing of claims.
Officials expect the initiative to reduce out‑of‑pocket expenses for families and to encourage prompt medical attention for accident victims, thereby improving recovery outcomes across the state.
