Parliament Panel Urges Integrated Security Framework for Jammu & Kashmir Tourist Sites

A parliamentary panel has recommended a comprehensive security and surveillance framework for tourist spots in Jammu & Kashmir, aiming to enhance safety for visitors. The panel, comprising members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, highlighted the need for a coordinated approach to address security gaps in popular tourist destinations across the state.

The proposal calls for the deployment of advanced surveillance technologies, increased police presence, and the establishment of a dedicated tourism security cell. It also suggests regular audits and collaboration with local authorities to ensure timely response to any threats.

Officials said the framework would be implemented in phases, starting with high-traffic sites such as Srinagar’s Dal Lake and Gulmarg. The government has pledged to allocate additional funds for the initiative.

The recommendation comes amid growing concerns over sporadic incidents that have affected tourism in the region. Authorities hope the new measures will restore confidence among domestic and international visitors.
