During the Sanatan Hindu Unity Rath Yatra in Tikamgarh, priest Dheerendra Krishna Shastri called for daughters to pursue civil services and suggested installing a Varaha statue at Garba venues.
Tikamgarh, Madhya Pradesh – On the occasion of the Sanatan Hindu Ekta Rath Yatra, pandit Dheerendra Krishna Shastri addressed the gathering and urged parents to encourage their daughters to aspire for top civil service positions such as the Indian Administrative Service and Indian Police Service. He emphasized that a career in these services would bring prestige to families and contribute to nation‑building.
Shastri also spoke about the cultural practices surrounding Garba celebrations, recommending that a statue of Lord Vishnu’s Varaha avatar be placed at Garba pandals. He argued that the presence of the deity would reinforce traditional values and provide spiritual protection during the festivities.
The remarks sparked discussion among attendees, with some praising the call for higher education and public service, while others questioned the relevance of religious symbols in community events. No official response has been issued by local authorities as of now.
The Rath Yatra continued with its usual procession of chariots and devotional songs, drawing participants from across the district. The event is organized annually to promote Hindu unity and cultural heritage in the region.
