Mohun Bagan Super Giant coach Panagiotis Dilmperis said the team will aim for a winning start against NorthEast United FC in the opening match of the ISL 2026-27 season, according to Kerala TV.
Panagiotis Dilmperis, the head coach of Mohun Bagan Super Giant, told Kerala TV that his side will go into the season‑opening fixture with NorthEast United FC determined to secure a victory. The comment came ahead of the first match of the Indian Super League 2026-27, which pits the Kolkata‑based giants against the Guwahati‑based club.
Mohun Bagan, one of the league's most decorated franchises, finished the previous season in the top half of the table but fell short of the title. Dilmperis emphasized that a win in the opener would set the tone for a campaign aimed at reclaiming the championship.
NorthEast United, looking to improve on a disappointing last campaign, will host the encounter at their home ground. Both teams have made several signings in the off‑season, and Dilmperis highlighted the importance of integrating new players quickly to maintain tactical cohesion.
The coach added that intensive pre‑season training and a focus on defensive solidity will be key. He refrained from naming specific strategies but assured fans that the squad is fully prepared to deliver a strong performance in the season’s first game.
