During the Puja festival, Palamu district police inspected 1,538 vehicles as part of an anti‑crime operation.
Palamu district police launched a focused anti‑crime drive coinciding with the Puja celebrations, checking a total of 1,538 vehicles across the region. The operation aimed to curb petty theft, illegal transport of goods and other criminal activities that tend to rise during festive periods. Officers conducted spot checks at major entry points, market areas and public gathering spots, verifying registration documents and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations.
The police spokesperson said the drive was part of a broader effort to maintain law and order during the high‑traffic festival season, when crowds and movement of goods increase the risk of criminal incidents. While the checks were routine, any violations discovered were dealt with according to existing legal provisions.
No major incidents were reported during the sweep, and the police indicated that the initiative helped deter potential offenses and reassured the public about safety measures in place for the celebrations.
