Delhi police say a car sold by its owner in Dilshad Garden was later stolen using a third key, but was located through GPS and identified via CCTV and Fastag records.

Shahdara district police disclosed that a vehicle sold by its owner in the Dilshad Garden neighbourhood of East Delhi was later reported missing. The owner, after completing the sale, used the car's GPS device to monitor its whereabouts.

Investigators found that the thief had obtained a third set of keys, enabling the unauthorized removal of the vehicle. Surveillance footage from nearby CCTV cameras captured the suspect’s movements, while the car’s Fastag record provided additional confirmation of its route.

Using the GPS data, police were able to pinpoint the car’s location and corroborate it with the visual evidence and Fastag logs. The coordinated use of technology helped the authorities to quickly identify the stolen vehicle and advance the case.

Shahdara officials emphasized that the incident underscores the importance of GPS tracking and electronic toll collection data in modern theft investigations, urging vehicle owners to retain such tools after a sale.
