Heavy monsoon rains have inundated more than 40,000 households in Lucknow, prompting emergency response from city authorities.
Heavy rainfall across the capital of Uttar Pradesh has caused water to breach drainage systems, leaving over 40,000 homes in Lucknow under water. Residents reported rising water levels in low‑lying neighborhoods early Tuesday, with many families forced to move to higher ground.
The municipal corporation activated its disaster management cell, deploying rescue boats and sandbag teams to the most affected wards. Temporary relief shelters have been set up at schools and community halls, providing food, blankets and medical assistance to displaced families.
City officials warned that the situation could worsen as the monsoon trough remains over the region. They have urged citizens to avoid non‑essential travel, follow evacuation orders, and cooperate with rescue crews. Relief supplies are being coordinated with the state disaster response force to reach the hardest‑hit areas.
While the focus remains on Lucknow, the state government has also issued alerts for neighboring districts, urging preparedness as the weather system moves eastward.
