Shivani Sharma, a resident of Khapa Khurd in Narmadapuram district, was declared brain‑dead after a road accident and donated her organs, giving three patients a new lease on life.

Shivani Sharma, known locally as Bilash Tanti Sharma, was involved in a road collision in Narmadapuram district of Madhya Pradesh. The impact left her with severe brain injury, and medical officials later pronounced her brain‑dead.

Despite the tragedy, her family consented to organ donation. Surgeons retrieved her kidneys, liver and heart valves, which were transplanted to three critically ill patients across the state. The recipients are now reported to be recovering, crediting the donor’s selfless act for their renewed chances of survival.

In recognition of her sacrifice, villagers of Khapa Khurd organized a guard of honor ceremony, honoring Shivani’s contribution to society. Local officials highlighted the importance of organ donation and urged the community to consider similar gestures in the future.

The incident underscores the growing awareness of organ donation in rural India, where such acts can dramatically alter the health outcomes of multiple patients.
