ODDMA Signs MoUs with UNDP, CivicDataLab to Strengthen Data‑Driven Disaster Management in Odisha

The Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) has signed memoranda of understanding with the United Nations Development Programme and CivicDataLab to develop data‑driven tools for disaster risk reduction in the state.
The Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) entered into two separate memoranda of understanding, one with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and another with CivicDataLab, a data‑analytics nonprofit. The agreements aim to build a robust, data‑centric framework for disaster preparedness, response and recovery across Odisha.
Under the UNDP MoU, technical expertise and funding will be channelled to create integrated risk‑mapping platforms, enhance early‑warning systems and train local officials in data‑informed decision‑making. The partnership with CivicDataLab focuses on open‑source data tools, real‑time monitoring dashboards and community‑level data collection to improve situational awareness during emergencies.
Both MoUs underscore the state government's push to modernise disaster management by leveraging technology and evidence‑based strategies, aligning with national goals for climate‑resilient development. Implementation is slated to begin later this year, with periodic reviews to assess impact and scalability.
