The Indian smartphone maker Nothing has released its latest operating system, Nothing OS 5, which runs on Android 17 and is now downloadable for owners of the Nothing Phone 3.
Nothing announced the rollout of its fifth-generation operating system, Nothing OS 5, on Monday. The update is positioned as the next step in the company's software roadmap and is immediately accessible to users of the Nothing Phone 3.
Built on the Android 17 codebase, the new OS brings a refreshed user interface, improved battery management and a suite of privacy enhancements. While the core Android experience remains familiar, Nothing has layered its own design language and custom gestures to differentiate the platform.
The update can be downloaded directly through the device's Settings menu, and the company has indicated that the rollout will complete within 48 hours for most Phone 3 units. Analysts note that the timely release underscores Nothing's commitment to keeping its hardware competitive in the Indian market.
