State-owned NLC India has announced a ₹37,000 crore investment plan to develop power generation and mineral extraction facilities in Odisha.

State-owned NLC India disclosed a massive capital allocation of about ₹37,000 crore aimed at expanding its power generation capacity and mineral extraction operations in Odisha. The funding will be channeled into new thermal and renewable power plants, as well as the development of coal and other mineral mines that the company plans to operate in the state.
The initiative aligns with Odisha's broader industrial growth agenda, which seeks to attract large‑scale investments to boost employment and regional infrastructure. NLC officials said the projects are expected to commence within the next fiscal year, with several phases slated for completion over a five‑year horizon.
Industry analysts view the move as a strategic effort by NLC to secure raw material supplies for its existing power assets while diversifying its portfolio. The state government has reportedly offered policy support and land allocation to facilitate swift project rollout, signalling a collaborative approach between the corporate and public sectors.
