The district administration of Sagar in Madhya Pradesh has officially confirmed that nine people died after drinking alcohol suspected to be laced with poison in several villages of the Banda region. The deaths were reported early this week, prompting an immediate medical response.
More than 25 individuals who consumed the same liquor were transferred to Sagar District Hospital for advanced treatment. The district collector and senior police officers are present at the hospital to monitor the situation and coordinate relief efforts.
The police, together with the food safety department, have launched a probe to identify the source of the toxic brew and to hold any responsible parties accountable. Officials have urged the public to avoid unverified alcoholic products and to report any similar incidents promptly.
