Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has rolled out a fleet of new toy trains at Kankaria Lake, enhancing the popular family‑friendly attraction. The miniature rail service, designed for children and tourists, began operations this week, adding a fresh dimension to the lake's leisure offerings.
The trains, painted in bright colours and equipped with safety features, run on a short circular track that circles the lake's promenade. Each carriage can accommodate up to six passengers, allowing families to enjoy short rides while taking in the surrounding gardens and fountains.
AMC has also announced a ₹10.59 crore contract with the agency that previously managed the attraction, covering the procurement, installation and ongoing maintenance of the new units. The contract is part of a broader plan to revamp Kankaria's amenities and attract more visitors during the peak summer season.
Local residents and visitors have welcomed the addition, noting that the new trains provide a safe and entertaining option for children, while also reducing crowding on the older rides. The initiative aligns with the city's push to modernise public spaces without compromising their traditional charm.
