A revamped Indian wrestling contingent is set to compete at the Under‑23 World Championships, even as several athletes grapple with visa delays.
The Wrestling Federation of India has announced a fresh line‑up for the upcoming Under‑23 World Championships, marking a shift from the senior squad that competed earlier this year. The selection emphasizes younger talent who have shown promise at national and junior levels, and the team will travel abroad to represent the country in the global event.
However, the preparations have been clouded by administrative setbacks, as a number of wrestlers are still awaiting clearance to obtain travel visas. Officials said the delay stems from procedural bottlenecks at the host nation’s consular offices, forcing the federation to intensify follow‑up efforts to secure the necessary documents before the tournament deadline.
Coaches and support staff remain confident that the athletes will be ready to perform once the paperwork is resolved. Training camps have continued in Delhi and other centers, focusing on technical refinement and weight‑class strategies. The federation hopes the new‑look squad can deliver strong performances and lay the groundwork for future senior‑level success.
