A video of Indian travelers sharing a communal 'bhandara-style' lunch at a Vietnam airport has gone viral, prompting netizens to criticize the act as culturally insensitive and a potential trigger for anti‑Indian sentiment.
A video showing a group of Indian travelers sharing a large communal meal, described as "bhandara-style," at an airport in Vietnam has gone viral on social media.
The clip sparked a wave of criticism from netizens who accused the travelers of disrespecting local norms and feeding stereotypes that could fuel anti‑Indian sentiment. Comments highlighted that such behaviour might invite racism against Indians abroad.
Users on platforms such as X and Facebook called for greater cultural sensitivity, urging travelers to respect host‑country customs and avoid large, noisy gatherings in public terminals. Some suggested that the incident reflects a broader lack of awareness among Indian tourists.
The video has not been officially commented on by Vietnamese authorities or the Indian embassy, and no formal complaints have been reported. The discussion remains confined to online forums, where the debate over responsible tourism continues.
