NEC Secretary Calls for Better Infrastructure to Boost Nagaland Coffee Viability

The NEC secretary said that improving infrastructure and adding value are essential for making Nagaland coffee commercially viable. He stressed that without these measures, the coffee sector cannot compete in the market.

The NEC secretary highlighted that Nagaland's coffee growers face challenges due to inadequate transport and processing facilities. He pointed out that better roads, reliable electricity and modern processing units are needed to reduce post‑harvest losses.

He also emphasized the importance of value addition such as branding, quality certification and packaging to fetch higher prices. According to him, these steps would help local farmers access national and international markets.

The official urged state agencies and private investors to collaborate on infrastructure projects and support farmer cooperatives. He believes that a coordinated approach can transform Nagaland coffee into a commercially viable crop.
