Navy Chief Urges Skyroot to Build Defence Space Capabilities in Mission Mode

At the NDTV Summit, Indian Navy chief Admiral Krishna Swaminathan invited private space startup Skyroot Aerospace to collaborate in mission mode to understand defence-specific requirements and develop sovereign space capabilities over the next 20-25 years.
Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, the Chief of the Naval Staff, spoke at the NDTV Summit where he emphasized the need for closer ties between the armed forces and emerging space companies. He specifically called on Skyroot Aerospace to integrate its efforts with the Navy in a mission‑mode approach to address defence‑oriented space challenges.
The Navy chief outlined that the collaboration would focus on identifying the specific requirements of the defence sector and working towards building world‑class, sovereign space capabilities. He indicated that this partnership is envisioned to span the next two to two‑and‑a‑half decades.
