Staff at Arunachal’s Namdapha Tiger Reserve have warned they will abandon their forest camps and stop duties after six months of not receiving salaries.
The forest department staff posted at Namdapha Tiger Reserve in Arunachal Pradesh have announced a collective walk-out. They say they have not been paid for six consecutive months, prompting them to consider vacating the remote camps where they live and work.
The employees, who manage anti-poaching patrols and habitat monitoring, said the delay has left many of them unable to meet basic household expenses. They have approached the state forest department repeatedly, but claim no satisfactory response has been received.
If the wage arrears are not cleared promptly, the staff plan to suspend all field operations, which could affect wildlife protection activities in the reserve. The forest department has not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
Local authorities are expected to intervene to avoid a disruption of conservation work, but the situation remains unresolved as the unpaid wages continue to mount.
