The nomination, scrutiny and withdrawal process for the 2026 Nagaur municipal elections has been completed, with 1,049 candidates examined, 377 withdrawing and Nagaur district topping the list with 241 candidates.
The Election Commission of India has concluded the nomination and scrutiny phase for the 2026 Nagaur municipal elections. A total of 1,049 aspirants submitted their papers for the urban local body polls, and each was examined for eligibility under the prevailing rules.
During the scrutiny, 377 candidates chose to withdraw their nominations, reducing the final list of contestants. After the withdrawals, 672 candidates remained in the fray across the various wards of Nagaur district.
Among the districts in Rajasthan, Nagaur recorded the highest number of candidates, with 241 individuals still in the contest after the scrutiny process. The commission has now moved to the next stage of the election schedule, which will involve the finalization of the ballot and campaigning guidelines.
Election officials have urged all remaining candidates to adhere to the code of conduct and complete any pending formalities before the polling date, slated for later in 2026.
