Mysuru Dasara festival opens with floral offerings to Goddess Chamundeshwari

Mysuru, Karnataka – The annual Dasara festivities were formally inaugurated today with a traditional floral offering to the presiding deity, Chamundeshwari, at the historic Chamundeshwari Temple on Chamundi Hill. The ceremony, attended by local officials and devotees, involved the placement of garlands and flower petals on the idol, symbolising reverence and the commencement of the cultural program.

The offering marks the opening of a ten‑day celebration that showcases Karnataka's heritage through processions, music, dance and elaborate displays. Organisers have scheduled a series of events across the city, drawing visitors from across the state and beyond.

Authorities emphasized that the inauguration proceeded smoothly, with security measures in place to manage the expected crowds. The floral tribute is a customary ritual that underscores the religious significance of Dasara in Mysuru, honoring the goddess who is believed to protect the region.
