The Mumbai Crime Branch's Anti-Extortion Cell has arrested two individuals allegedly involved in an extortion scheme targeting a developer of an SRA redevelopment project in Sion's GTB Nagar.
Mumbai police have apprehended two people in connection with an alleged extortion racket operating around a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) redevelopment project. The arrests were made by the Crime Branch's Anti-Extortion Cell.
The accused reportedly demanded money from the project's developer. Their alleged modus operandi involved threatening to file Right to Information (RTI) applications and create other obstacles to disrupt the redevelopment work.
The racket is believed to be linked to an SRA project located in GTB Nagar, Sion area of Mumbai. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
