The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a compensation package of ₹20 crore to Film City, the iconic film production hub in Mumbai, for the disruptions caused by the twin-tunnel construction on the Goregaon‑Mulund Link Road.
The twin-tunnel project, part of a larger upgrade of the Goregaon‑Mulund Link Road, has required extensive excavation and heavy machinery operations in close proximity to Film City. The construction activities have led to traffic congestion, noise pollution and temporary closure of key access routes, affecting the daily operations of the film studios.
In a statement, BMC officials said the ₹20 crore will be paid in installments over the next 12 months, with the first tranche released upon completion of the tunnel’s foundational work. The corporation also pledged to implement measures to minimize future disruptions and to provide alternative routes for Film City traffic.
Film City representatives welcomed the compensation, noting that the financial support will help offset losses incurred during the construction period and aid in the resumption of normal production schedules.
