Addressing recent speculations regarding the administrative status of the Darjeeling region, MP Raju Bista has firmly stated that there is no proposal on the table to merge Darjeeling with the state of Sikkim. The clarification comes amid ongoing discussions about the region's political and administrative identity.
Bista emphasized that the special provisions granted to the region, particularly those outlined in Article 371F of the Constitution, are intended to be permanent. He assured that the existing legal framework protecting the interests of the local population will remain unchanged.
