Mother and Daughter Die in E‑Scooter Fire in Ratlam, Families Protest for Action and Compensation

Earlier this week, a fire erupted in an electric scooter parked in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, resulting in the deaths of a mother and her teenage daughter. The blaze was intense enough to cause fatal injuries before emergency services could intervene.

Following the tragedy, the victims' relatives gathered outside the dealer's premises, laying the bodies in view as a form of protest. They demanded that the scooter manufacturer and the local dealer be held responsible and that a thorough investigation be launched.

The dealer subsequently announced a compensation package of ten lakh rupees for the bereaved family. Protesters, however, expressed dissatisfaction, insisting on a comprehensive inquiry and additional reparations beyond the offered amount.

Local authorities have registered a case and are reportedly examining the scooter's battery and charging mechanisms to determine the cause of the fire, while the protest continues to draw attention from regional media.
