The Mohali Municipal Council announced plans to construct a public park in AKS Colony, located in Ward 27 of the city.
The Mohali Municipal Council has approved the creation of a new green space in AKS Colony, situated within Ward 27 of the city. The project aims to provide residents with a recreational area that includes walking paths, seating arrangements, and landscaped gardens.
Local officials indicated that the park will be developed on land currently earmarked for community use, and construction is expected to begin later this year pending final clearances. The council has allocated funds from its urban development budget, though the exact financial outlay has not been disclosed.
Community leaders have welcomed the initiative, citing the need for more open spaces in the rapidly expanding suburb. Once completed, the park is expected to serve families, senior citizens, and fitness enthusiasts, enhancing the overall quality of life in the area.
The municipal authority will monitor progress through regular site inspections and will engage with local residents to incorporate feedback on amenities and design features. Completion is projected within 12 to 18 months, subject to weather and logistical factors.
