Mob Overpowers Police, Releases Two Charas Suspects in Himachal Pradesh

A mob gathered in a remote area of Himachal Pradesh and attacked a police outpost that was holding two men accused of carrying charas, a form of cannabis resin. The demonstrators overran the checkpoint, broke the restraints and escorted the detainees away from the scene.
The two suspects had been arrested earlier in the day during a routine check on a vehicle suspected of transporting illicit drugs. Police officials confirmed that the men were being held for alleged possession of charas, but did not disclose the quantity involved.
