An MLA has inaugurated a grain purchase program at Chavani Mandi in Jalandhar, aiming to secure fair prices for local farmers.
At a ceremony held in Chavani Mandi, a local Member of Legislative Assembly formally launched a government-backed grain purchase initiative. The program is designed to buy surplus paddy from farmers at a guaranteed price, thereby stabilising market rates and providing a reliable income source.
The MLA explained that the scheme would operate throughout the harvest season, with regular collection points set up across the region. Farmers can bring their produce to the designated stalls and receive immediate payment.
Officials noted that the initiative aligns with the state’s broader agricultural support strategy, which seeks to reduce post-harvest losses and improve rural livelihoods.
