The Government of Mizoram has announced an ambitious target to achieve 1% of the national GDP by 2047, as stated by Chief Minister Lalduhoma.

The Government of Mizoram has unveiled a long‑term economic vision to raise the state’s contribution to India’s GDP to 1% by 2047. Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced the target in a recent speech, emphasizing that it aligns with the nation’s centenary year of independence.

Mizoram currently accounts for less than half a percent of the country’s GDP. The state’s plan focuses on boosting industrial development, expanding tourism, and leveraging digital technologies to create new employment opportunities.

To reach the 1% milestone, the government intends to attract both domestic and foreign investment, improve infrastructure connectivity, and promote skill development among its workforce. The target is part of a broader strategy to transform Mizoram into a more economically vibrant and self‑sufficient region.

While the exact roadmap remains under formulation, officials have highlighted the need for sustained policy support and public‑private partnerships to drive growth over the next two decades.
