The Mizoram government has approached the National Buildings Construction Corporation for technical support as heavy rains trigger landslides across the state.
Mizoram's disaster management officials have formally requested assistance from the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) after a spate of landslides destabilised hillsides in several districts. The state reports that continuous monsoon showers have saturated soil, increasing the risk of slope failures that threaten villages and critical road links.
NBCC, a central public sector undertaking with expertise in geotechnical engineering, is expected to conduct site surveys, provide design recommendations for slope stabilization and assist in implementing early warning systems. Officials said the partnership aims to mitigate immediate hazards and develop long‑term resilience against future landslides.
The state government has earmarked funds for the emergency response and will coordinate with NBCC teams on the ground. Local authorities are also urging residents in vulnerable areas to remain vigilant and follow evacuation directives where necessary.
