The state government of Mizoram has approached the National Buildings Construction Corporation for technical assistance to mitigate recurring landslides that have been disrupting communities.
Mizoram's administration has formally requested the expertise of the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) to devise and implement measures against the state's persistent landslide problems. The move comes after a series of slope failures in the hilly terrain that have caused damage to roads, homes and agricultural land.
NBCC is expected to conduct detailed geological surveys, recommend engineering solutions such as retaining walls, drainage improvements and slope stabilization techniques. The agency will also assist local authorities in prioritising high‑risk zones and training personnel for rapid response.
State officials said the collaboration aims to reduce loss of life and property, and to ensure that critical infrastructure remains functional during the monsoon season. The project is slated to begin after a joint assessment team is deployed in the coming weeks.
