The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued a warning to finance professionals about a surge in 'Boss Scam' frauds conducted through hijacked WhatsApp accounts.
The scam typically involves attackers taking control of a senior manager’s WhatsApp account and sending messages that appear authentic, requesting urgent money transfers or sensitive financial information.
MHA advises professionals to verify the identity of the sender, use official communication channels, and report any suspicious activity to their organization’s security team.
The ministry also urged banks and financial institutions to strengthen their security protocols and monitor for such fraudulent activity.
