Director Mel Brooks insisted that his portions for the upcoming parody ‘Spaceballs: The New One’ be filmed before any other cast members.
Director Mel Brooks has reportedly told the production team of the upcoming parody "Spaceballs: The New One" that his scenes should be shot before any other members of the cast, according to IGN. The request underscores Brooks' hands‑on approach to the film, which revisits his classic 1987 sci‑fi comedy.
Brooks, who both wrote and directed the original Spaceballs, is said to have insisted on this sequencing to maintain creative control over his performance and ensure that the tone of the movie aligns with his vision. While such a demand is uncommon in modern productions, the crew appears prepared to accommodate the veteran filmmaker.
The decision does not appear to affect the overall shooting schedule, as the rest of the cast will be filmed after Brooks completes his portions. No further details on the production timeline have been released.
