The Meghalaya tourism department has responded to public concerns, confirming that the Shillong Peak ropeway meets safety standards and will operate as planned.
The tourism ministry of Meghalaya issued a statement today to address growing public apprehension about the newly constructed ropeway at Shillong Peak. Officials emphasized that the project has undergone comprehensive safety inspections by both state and central authorities, and all certifications have been duly obtained.
According to the department, structural integrity tests, load-bearing assessments and emergency response drills were completed ahead of the scheduled inauguration. The ministry also highlighted that the ropeway is equipped with modern braking systems and continuous monitoring mechanisms to ensure passenger safety.
