Meghalaya's Sports Minister travelled to Japan to observe and learn from the country's sports infrastructure and event management ahead of the upcoming National Games.

Shillong, Meghalaya – The state's Sports Minister embarked on an official trip to Japan, focusing on acquiring insights into sports facility management and event organization rather than engaging with athletes. The delegation visited several Japanese sports venues, met with officials from Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and toured training centers renowned for hosting international competitions.

During the visit, the minister emphasized the need to adopt best practices to elevate the standards of the upcoming National Games scheduled in India. Discussions centered on infrastructure upgrades, athlete support systems, and leveraging technology for efficient event execution.

The trip reflects Meghalaya's commitment to enhancing its sports ecosystem and ensuring that the National Games meet global benchmarks. Officials expect to compile a report outlining actionable recommendations for state authorities upon return.

The ministry plans to integrate the learned strategies into its upcoming sports development programs, aiming to boost participation and performance across the state.
