The state government of Meghalaya has signed an agreement with the Airtel Foundation to provide professional development programmes for school teachers across the region.
Meghalaya's education department announced a formal partnership with the Airtel Foundation aimed at strengthening the pedagogical capabilities of teachers in the state. Under the agreement, the foundation will design and deliver a series of training modules covering modern teaching methodologies, digital classroom tools, and inclusive education practices.
The initiative targets both government and private school teachers, with an initial rollout planned for the upcoming academic session. Participants will receive hands‑on workshops, online resources, and mentorship from education experts associated with Airtel's corporate social responsibility arm.
State officials said the collaboration aligns with Meghalaya's broader goal of improving learning outcomes and bridging the digital divide in remote areas. The programme will be monitored through periodic assessments to gauge its impact on classroom performance.
Airtel Foundation representatives highlighted their commitment to education as a core CSR focus, noting that similar projects have been implemented in other Indian states with positive results. The partnership is expected to benefit thousands of teachers and, indirectly, millions of students across Meghalaya.
The training schedule and enrollment details will be communicated to schools in the coming weeks, with an emphasis on ensuring equitable access for educators in hilly and underserved districts.
