The Governor of Meghalaya has called on the Indian Red Cross Society to actively involve young people in addressing the state’s social challenges.
During a recent meeting with officials of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), the Governor of Meghalaya highlighted the importance of harnessing the energy of the state’s youth to confront pressing social problems. He stressed that young volunteers can play a pivotal role in areas such as disaster response, health awareness, and community development.
The governor urged the IRCS to design programmes that not only recruit young people but also equip them with the skills needed for effective service. He suggested that schools, colleges and local NGOs be engaged to create a coordinated network of youth volunteers across the state.
By directing the IRCS to focus on youth participation, the governor aims to strengthen grassroots initiatives and ensure that social interventions are both sustainable and inclusive for Meghalaya’s diverse population.
