Meghalaya Governor says scouting fosters discipline, leadership and national integration

Meghalaya Governor Phagu Chauhan, speaking at a recent scouting event, emphasized that the movement plays a pivotal role in shaping young citizens. He noted that the structured activities and values taught in scouting help inculcate discipline, a sense of responsibility and leadership skills.
The governor pointed out that scouting also serves as a platform for fostering national integration, bringing together participants from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds across the state. By working together in camps and community projects, scouts develop mutual respect and a shared sense of belonging to the nation.
He praised the state’s scouting units for their commitment and urged parents and schools to encourage more youngsters to join. The administration plans to strengthen support for scouting through increased funding, training for leaders and better infrastructure.
