The Meghalaya Chief Minister has announced a 70% subsidy on homestay bookings to boost tourism ahead of the 2027 National Games.
The Meghalaya government has unveiled a 70% subsidy scheme for homestay bookings in preparation for the 2027 National Games, aiming to attract more visitors to the state.
Under the scheme, travelers booking homestays in Meghalaya will receive a 70% discount on the accommodation cost, with the state covering the remainder. The subsidy is open to both domestic and international tourists, as well as participants and officials of the National Games.
Applications for the subsidy will be processed through the Meghalaya Tourism Development Board. Bookings made between now and the start of the Games will qualify, and travelers must submit proof of payment and a valid identification document to claim the discount.
Officials say the initiative will boost local economies, increase homestay occupancy rates, and showcase Meghalaya’s hospitality to a national audience.
