Meghalaya clinches two SKOCH Silver Awards for bio‑inputs drive and Lariti Cultural Centre

Meghalaya has been recognised with two SKOCH Silver Awards, a national accolade that celebrates excellence in governance and public service. The first award acknowledges the state's concerted push for bio‑inputs, a sustainable agricultural approach that encourages the use of organic fertilizers and biological pest control to boost farm productivity while reducing chemical dependence.

The second award honors the Lariti Cultural Centre, an initiative aimed at preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Khasi and Jaintia communities. The centre provides a platform for traditional arts, crafts, and performances, fostering community engagement and tourism.

Officials from the Meghalaya government highlighted that both recognitions underscore the state's commitment to sustainable development and cultural preservation. The SKOCH Awards jury cited the bio‑inputs programme for its measurable impact on farmer incomes and soil health, while praising the cultural centre for its inclusive programming and educational outreach.
