The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has started a three‑day operation to trap and relocate monkeys causing disturbances across the city.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) announced the commencement of a three‑day trapping operation aimed at curbing the growing monkey menace in the capital. Teams equipped with humane traps will be deployed in identified hotspots, including residential colonies, markets and parks where monkey‑human conflicts have risen.
Officials said the initiative is a response to increasing reports of monkeys breaking into homes, stealing food and causing safety concerns for pedestrians. The operation will run from today for 72 hours, after which captured animals will be handed over to the wildlife department for relocation to appropriate habitats.
MCD has urged residents to avoid feeding monkeys and to report sightings through the municipal helpline. The corporation emphasized that the measures are temporary and part of a broader plan to manage wildlife-human interactions in urban areas.
The city administration will monitor the effectiveness of the trapping drive and may extend or adjust the strategy based on the outcomes and feedback from the public.
